Permiehub for Educators of Permaculture Design

Permiehub: Supporting Permaculture Learning
We built Permiehub with a passion to support fellow students in their permaculture journey, specifically by simplifying base map creation and providing a tangible, hard-copy record of their designs. Why? Our experience attending a PDC at Limestone Permaculture inspired us to bring our vision to life. We realised we could best serve the community by developing a tool that streamlines the design process, sharing the joy of permaculture with others.
What to Expect When You Join Permiehub
Free Early Access
We're offering educators and students early access to Permiehub. Your feedback will be invaluable in creating a tool that empowers permaculture practitioners worldwide.
Design Journey
Support your students' learning journey by letting Permiehub guide them step-by-step through a process that begins with mapping and observing land patterns and culminates in detailed design.
Digital Mentorship Tool
Discover how you can use Permiehub as a mentoring tool, fostering collaborative learning and providing expert guidance across the stages of permaculture design, implementation, and observation.
Benefits in Base Map
- Load available NSW aerial imagery, property boundaries, contour lines, and water lines* or draw them manually
- Upload and auto-scale their drone imagery with a single measurement
- Stamp trees and size them instantly using dimension inputs
- Mark and annotate infrastructure lines with confidence
- Toggle aerial transparency for precise object tracking
- Use keyboard shortcuts to quickly show or hide their base map's reference image
Create Base Maps with Available NSW Site Data
- The Base Map Wizard in NSW, Australia, quickly retrieves available site data, providing an excellent foundation for your base map.
Print Scaled Base Maps
- Generate physical copies of your base map in any standard paper size, perfect for sketching and hand-drawn design.
Benefits in Site Analysis
- Teach your students how to involve their loved ones by recording land observations in Permiehub together
- Display sun movement and sun rays direction at specific times of the year and day
- Mark out the direction and strength of prevailing winds using directional arrows
- Note down any wildlife corridors and movement around their land
- Select from a library of site analysis symbols to mark important observations of their land
- Enjoy the benefit of easily recognising site analysis markers due to default colour-coding
Mark Land Features with Intuitive Icons
- Use a library of symbols and colours to quickly highlight interesting land features.
Visualise Sun Movement
- To design shelter from the summer sun and plan deciduous or seasonal plantings, move the sun tool around the property.
Benefits in Concept Design
- Record inputs and outputs between zones to define their relationships
- Document zones within the concept design using display names and descriptions for legend generation
- Colour-code zones within their concept design for quick visual recognition of their purpose
- Test and refine spatial relationships between elements by creating scaled concept design overlays
- Let your students verify the accessibility and flow of their concept design by delineating communication pathways
- Show your students how to use resources efficiently and minimise waste by visualising the inputs and outputs between concepted areas
Visualise Relationships Between Zones
- Mark and annotate your zones while considering inputs and outputs, to design relative distances and access.
Check Accessibility and Flow
- Confirm your concept design by visualising accessibility and flow between the areas.
Benefits in Detailed Design
- Teach your students how to develop realistic and consistent detailed designs using objects such as swales, espaliers, garden beds, and more
- Highlight trees and perennials displaying leaves or colours across different seasons
- Generate planting plan lists and work task lists using a legend with display names and descriptions
- Your students can record and visualise monthly yields of their homestead perennial plantings
- Show your students how to monitor the progress of works by updating their implemented status directly within the detailed design
- Illustrate to your students how they can visualise the latest state of their design in moments
Detail Your Concept Design
- Sculpt concept design areas into objects ready to be built or planted.
Highlight Perennial Plantings
- Plan for yield, blossom bee forage, and shelter by adding details.
Benefits in Management, Implementation, and After Care
- Show your students the power of quickly illustrating project and object dimensions within a detailed design
- Illustrate to your students how clear and detailed dimensional plans facilitate smooth handovers to contractors and maintenance teams
- Show your students how to capture complex designs in a compact format for future consultations and works
- Illustrate to your students the importance of creating a lasting record and reference, enabling them to print scaled plans at any time
- Show your students how preserving designs in an accessible format ensures consistent maintenance and future adaptations
- Permiehub overlays follow the design process, empowering students to manage their landscape confidently
